Candolim is a popular beach that finds its location in North Goa. Located 15 Km from the capital city of Panajim, this beach is known for its contribution to the history in the form of Fort Aguada. Built in the year of 1612, it was meant to defend from Maratha invaders and the Dutch. Apart from this fort, tourists find themselves wandering to the nearby Lighthouse, barracks and church for more insight in Goan culture and history.

Another attraction that one might enjoy near this Candolim is another beach known as Calangute Beach, which is commercial and hence busy for most of the time. This beach is louder than the former and hence, the exact opposite. Seclusion is best found in Candolim, even with the thriving inns found near this beach, as it is free of resorts.

Among other things as mentioned above, the village Candolim is also marked as the birth place of “Father of Hypnotism” Abbe Faria, though a long time back. This pieceof information is basically for those who were more interested in Aguada Fort and Jail rather than the beach itself.

Candolim Beach is forms a part of a long sandy stretch of the coastline along the Arabian Sea. It starts at Fort Aguada ending at Chapora Beach. The beach looks best in the months of December to February.
