Kollam Beach


An old port town, it houses Kollam Beach that is full with appeal as well as activities. It has been also graced with the name of Mahatma Gandhi Beach. Beauty at its best is what this town represents whenever you come here. Known for its well established cashew industry, it was once proliferated due to the trade with China.

1. Historical charm- Being the centre of trade with countries like China, The reminiscent of those days are still visible in the form of things like Chinese water pots. The history can be explored more for details. Along with that one can also add to the list the ruins of Dutch and Portuguese forts.

2. Ashtamudi Lake- It is best for a day outing and a photographing sessions.

3. Lighthouse- As old as more than 100 years, it is 144 foot tall, and can be view from a distance.

4. Backwaters- There always a possibility of laying lazily in one of the house boats when you are in Kerala, and this beach is celebrated for this. Regular ferry services could be availed here.


Reach to Trivandrum either by Rail, Road or backwaters. Trivandrum International Airport is the nearest one to reach Kollam. By road you will have to take on NH 47 to reach here. The Beach is Approximately 5 Km from the town.
